Mexico spending $1.2B for Sikorsky Seahawks

The government of Mexico is requesting permission to purchase eight MH-60R Seahawk helicopters from the Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, in a contract valued at $1.2 billion if approved by Congress.

Mexico plans to use the helicopters to combat crime and drug trafficking, as well as for naval missions.

Earlier this month, Sikorsky marked the 30th year of Black Hawk and Seahawk sales to Latin America, with some 175 aircraft delivered since 1988 including 48 to Mexico prior to the newest sale.
