Leonardo to establish helicopter repair facility in Australia

Leonardo and the Australian Ministry of Defence have agreed to establish a helicopter transmission repair and overhaul facility in Melbourne. The facility will be capable of servicing the nation’s MRH-90 Taipan helicopters, foreign NH90s and certain civil helicopter main gearboxes. The facility will commence operation in mid-2020 and will employ at least 12 technical staff for at least 30 more years.

The Australian government is investing $16 million in the facility. Leonardo will be investing a similar amount, according to a Leonardo press release.
