Sikorsky S92 broke down en route to search and rescue mission after woman fell in River Clyde

A woman was in a “serious” condition in hospital after apparently falling into the River Clyde near Lanark on Tuesday night (May 2).

Emergency services rushed to the scene, near the Stone Byres Power Station at Kirkfieldbank, following reports the 25-year-old was injured around 8pm.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were joined by the Coastguard for the operation, however the Coastguard’s Sikorsky S92 helicopter apparently suffered an in-flight emergency and a forced landing in a field near the Clyde Valley Kindergarten in Kirkfieldbank en route.
