British Columbia Non-Profit Wants EMS Helicopters as an Election Issue

Northern British Columbia Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operations Society, or H.E.R.O.S, is trying to convince groups that pre-hospital care and transportation that EMS helicopters provide should be a priority, before the BC 2017 election.

H.E.R.O.S Vice President, Ted Clarke has been advocating the necessity of EMS helicopters. He points out that patients in need of critical care, such as car crash victims or patients in rural communities, can receive it much faster by helicopter than they would by ambulance. A doctor currently in BC has had to perform six open heart surgeries inside a helicopter when he was working in London.
