Bell Helicopter wins $22Mln foreign military sale to repair Iraqi choppers

US defence conglomerate Textron has been awarded a one-year contract extension by the US Department of Defense to continue providing support to the Iraqi army’s helicopter fleet.

The $22 million deal will see Textron subsidiary Bell Helicopter, based in Texas, provide additional logistics support and spare parts for Bell 407GX helicopters.

Armed with .50-calibre machine guns and 70 mm Hydra air-to-surface rockets, the Iraqi Army currently operates 24 units of the model, which is also known as the 407GT.
