Bell Helicopter saw revenue and profit rise in 2017, but parent company Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) reported a fourth quarter net income loss and saw its shares fall 2.5 percent as of 11:30 a.m. CT.
Bell reported revenue of $3.32 billion in 2017, a 2.4-percent rise year-over-year. Segment profit also rose, 7.5 percent, to $415 million last year for the Fort Worth-based helicopter manufacturer.
The fourth quarter saw Bell’s revenue rise 10.8 percent while profit decreased 9.5 percent. The rise in revenue was due to the increase in military sales, offset by a decrease in commercial sales. The decrease in profit was “primarily related to a change in commercial mix,” the company said.
